Kayleen will also join Shiloh in additional video content regarding the history of the Black Madonna and her message for us today.

We would love for you to join us!

Painting the Black Madonna

When we approach the Black Madonna in prayer to paint Her image, we are essentially beginning her pilgrimage into Her presence and Her heart. For 33 days we will be in online circle discovering her message for us.

Many of Her teachings help us understand the significance of the symbolism that She reveals to us in Her images and in Her stories.

Each woman's painting will be about her relationship with the Black Madonna as a discovery process. We will explore the symbols of her image throughout the world, but you will also come up with your own. The mediation and prayer in paint process of Intentional Creativity will guide you on a sacred pilgrimage of the heart where you can hear her voice within you.

The opening weekend and several other dates will be livestreamed for our guests around the world. You can also watch the videos later. Additional videos from Shiloh Sophia will be woven throughout the days to show how to deepen your painting.

Tuition: $145 or 3 payments of $50

*Catherine Braslavksy, renowned Parisian singer, trusted with guarding the cultural heritage of the Middle Ages by the French Government, will lead us in pilgrimage songs dedicated to the Black Madonnas as well as perform solos for our rituals together.

Tawanna Benbow
Performance Artist & Drama Liturgist

Shiloh Sophia lives life as a great adventure! A renaissance woman who communicates her philosophy through paintings, poetry, teachings and entrepreneurship. For 25 years she has dedicated her soul work to the study and practice of creativity, as a path of healing, which provides access to consciousness. As a curator and gallery owner, she has represented her own work, as well as hundreds of women artists. By the age of 40 she achieved incredible success through being in the top ten percent of sales for contemporary artists in the U.S. Her prolific intuitive painting process led to a desire to teach and provided the foundation for the groundbreaking work on how Intentional Creativity® can give voice to the soul. Her method of  ‘creating with mindfulness’ has reached tens of thousands of students who have gained insight into the hidden self.

Her work is taught widely, at Universities in MA and Phd programs, the United Nations CSW, and by hundreds of Certified Teachers and Coaches. At the core of her work is a belief that the right to self express is one of the most basic human rights –  “We have a right to know how to access what we think, feel, believe and to express it in our lives.” Her life path is a spiritual practice, and an offering, that was awakened with the feminine Divine. Her research dives into the exploration of the right/left brain connection with the heart and re-inventing personal archetypes as gateways to liberation. "When we find freedom from the trauma of our stories, we can invent our own legends, and do the sacred work of organizing our consciousness.”

She is the creator of seven books, as well as a community leader. Having been trained by her mother Caron McCloud the poet, and Sue Hoya Sellars the artist, she brought her gifts of language and image into form through founding the Intentional Creativity® Guild, Cosmic Cowgirls®, Power Creatives TV and Color of Woman®. She lives and works at Cosmic Cowgirls Ranch in Sonoma California, which provides education both in house and online, reaching over 25k subscribers a month. She can be found most days having tea with her muses, discussing quantum physics and celebrating revelations of the heart.

About the Music & Catherine Braslavksy

The Black Madonna of Montserrat, Spain was the source of inspiration for some of the most extraordinary music ever created. Sung and danced in the Cathedral overnight, by pilgrims who undertook the arduous trek up the imposing mountains of Catalonia and to the end point of Santiago Compostella, the the music of  Llibre Vermell and the Cantigas de Santa Maria was composed and collected by a team of Jewish, Muslim and Christian scribes, to honor the stories of miraculous healing en route to see the Black Madonnas of Spain.  Musician and cultural historian Kayleen Asbo, Ph.D will share this story of profound beauty and hope through art and music. Kayleen is on the faculty of the Pacifica Graduate Institute of Mythological Studies, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Osher Lifelong Learning Faculties of UC Berkeley, Dominican University and Sonoma State. She has produced three concerts of Music for the Black Madonna and has lectured on the art and music of the Middle Ages at Oxford University,  the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, at Chartres Cathedral, Grace Cathedral and for the Assisi Institute of Depth Psychology.

Catherine Braslavksy, renowned Parisian singer, will teach us some of the exquisite chants collected by Medieval pilgrims on their quests to the Black Madonna for transformation. Catherine has been entrusted by the French Government to uphold the musical heritage of the Medieval Ages and has performed programs of sacred music at Chartres Cathedral, Vezelay Cathedral and festivals. She and her husband, Joseph Rowe, were featured performers of music for the Black Madonna at the Esoteric Quest in Barcelona, Spain and have toured the world bringing the music of the middle ages to enthralled audience. The Braslavsky Ensemble has recorded six acclaimed albums of music.

Message from Shiloh Sophia:

I am delighted to share big news! Our Intentional Creativity community has been chosen to do a deck on the Black Madonna - it is through Blue Angel Publishing.
This is the same publisher I have worked with for years, that did the Mother Mary Deck with Alana Fairchild as the author. They first invited me but I had a great idea, YOU. My beautiful community of painters that can join me for this. Imagine your painting being included in a deck of intentional paintings of the Black Madonna?!

So I thought how do I organize this? This is it, this 33 day cycle in which we will create Black Madonna’s and submit them for potential inclusion in the deck. You can submit up to 3 images. You don't need to do a specific Madonna of a specific location but you can if inspired. You will need to submit a short story or description with your submission. Further details will be explored during our time together for how this works.

All proceeds from the deck that are part of our portion will be gifted to the Intentional Creativity Foundation, 501c3

Does the image of the Black Madonna call to you?

Alana Fairchild is the amazing author of the deck and will be sending us a special message during our class about the creation of the deck and her intentions.

Message from Kayleen Asbo:

Dear Friends of Mythica,

Thirteen years ago while walking the labyrinth by candlelight at Chartres Cathedral, I heard the incandescent Parisian Catherine Braslavsky sing a song that brought chills to my spine and a lump to my throatIt haunted me for years before I discovered the story behind it.  Stella Splendens is a song used by 14th century pilgrims who would ascend the steep mountains of Montserrat, Spain to offer their devotion to the Black Madonna. There are hundreds of statues of Black Madonnas in Europe, and there are also hundreds of mesmerizing songs that were composed to accompany pilgrims along the paths in France and Spain to her shrines.  Listen here to Stella Splendens, sung by Catherine.

It was in producing a concert of some of these pieces--some ethereal and celestial, others gypsy-like and raucous-- that I first met Shiloh Sophia McCloud, a visionary artist whose devotion to the Madonna has transformed the lives of hundreds of women and resulted in countless acts of creativity. Shiloh's own paintings of the Black Madonna have been exhibited all over the world, and her pioneering methods of intentional creativity have empowered thousands of students who have never painted before to connect to the latent artist within.

It is with great joy that I announce this Black Madonna course that will bring together stories, songs and paintings of the Black Madonnas, images that emanate qualities we desperately need in the world right now: integration, healing, wholeness. Unlike traditional white Madonnas that most often show Mary as "meek and mild", Black Madonnas radiate the qualities of  fierce compassion and universal love that come from a place of power and strength, a theme that performance artist and drama liturgist Tawanna Benbow will explore with us.

This will be a powerful and potentially transformative experience, saturated with beautiful art and music. It is an opporutnity for you to make a pilgrimage into the depths of your own heart. I hope you'll join us!
